Kalimath temple is in Rudraprayag district of Uttrakhand. It surrounded by the peaks of Kedarnath. Kalimath is closed to Ukhimath and Gupta Kashi. Kalimath is one among the 108 shaktipith of Uttrakhand and held in very high religious esteem. As per legends, Goddess Kali emerged in Kalishila, few km far from Kalimath, and she killed very powerful Demon Raktbeja in Kalimath and went underneath the earth here. There is a hole on that place. A silver Sriynatra is consecrated at that place. This yantra hides the hole at the place she went underneath the earth . This Sriynatra is opened on the auspicious day of Ashtami of Navratra. This place is originally known as Kaviltha and it is said the Mahakavi Kalidas get the boon from Goddess Kali here.
There is a Mahalaxmi temple also near to Sriyantra where an akhanda jyoti keep burning. There are Goddess Saraswati and Lord Bhairava temples also. Unlike Badrinath and Kedarnath these temples remain open the whole year.
Major Puja performed here is Durga Saptsati Parayana and Devi Bhagavad.
